Substack recently sponsored a wild table read for Eddie Huang’s new film “Tuna Melt” – a dark comedy about a hit man. The event featured Chloe Cherry, Evan Mock, Joey Bada$$, Chet Hanks and Kiersey Clemons. The project is a love story disguised as a film about a hitman. It explores masculinity through murder and is ultimately about trauma. It’s described as “an updated Pulp Fiction meets High Fidelity”.
Studios and financiers love the script, but have made “very odd” suggestions on who to cast. So Huang decided to bring the pages to life and provide a peek into his vision. From the laughter that emanated across the room, it seemed to have firmly landed.
